BRAIN POWER: WHY, WHERE AND HOW COME

The second College on Neurophysics, a follow up to the first College held in 1995, began last month and will continue through the first week of June. Titled "Plasticity of Sensory Motor Systems," the College aims to examine how the brain works and how we can devise models that enhance our understanding of neural functions. A prime focus of concern of the College is the relationship between behaviour and sensory-motor information processing--in other words, the connections between psychology and physiology. The activity, which is organized by Mathew E. Diamond and the neuroscience group at SISSA, is dedicated to the memory of Antonino Borsellino, a prominent Italian biophysicist who was a close friend and strong advocate of the ICTP until his death in 1992.
