ICTP 1999 PRIZE: NEW FORMAT
The 1999 ICTP Prize, in Condensed Matter Physics, will be given in the name of Stig Lundqvist, a world-renowned physicist who chaired the ICTP Scientific Council from 1982 to 1992. Under a new selection process, the Centre will solicit nominations from chairs and department heads in universities and research institutes throughout the developing world. The ICTP Prize, which carries a US$1,000 cash award, is given each year to a young physicist or mathematician who was born and currently lives and works in a developing country.
