ICTP will hold a two-day workshop, RICH - Research Infrastructures and Cultural Heritage, on 12-13 December examining ways to bridge the knowledge gap between scientific research and cultural heritage. The workshop, organized by European scientific institutions, will examine how laser, neutron, and synchrotron radiation facilities can aid efforts to investigate and conserve objects of historical and cultural significance. Special attention will be paid to the role that such facilities can play in providing information for protecting and restoring heritage sites damaged by human and natural disasters and curbing illegal trade in counterfeit art.
