Mourad Zghal, Ecole Supérieure des Communications de Tunis, Tunisia, has been awarded the 2008 ICO/ICTP Gallieno Denardo Award "for his original work in the development of numerical modeling techniques for photonic crystal fibers, microstructured optical fibers, polarization and for his active commitment aimed at the diffusion of research in optics in Africa.” The awards ceremony and seminar are taking place in the Kastler Lecture Hall, Adriatico Guesthouse, on Monday, 18 February, at 3:30 p.m. Everybody is welcome to attend.
Starting from this year, the ICO/ICTP Award is named in memory of Gallieno Denardo, who was in charge of optics activities at ICTP for more than twenty years.
